Joe Lawson and his helper fill the 4th bushel. In the winter, water on the floor of the boat usually freezes. This was a good day for Joe; after 9 hours in the Bay, 14 oyster bushels were full.
Each bushel contains between 100-150 oysters and will be sold for 40 dollars. By the time the oysters get to a restaurant table, they will cost in average 3 dollars each.
